About Us

Jacob “Puck” Ross (tenor) is an assistant director and the tenor section leader for The Alliance, as well as the current VP of Music and Performance. He has competed with the chorus at several District and International competitions including winning a 5th Place Bronze Medal in 2004. Puck has a Music Education degree from Bowling Green State University where he sang for four years in the BGSU Men’s Chorus’ Varsity Quartet. Previously he sang with Throwback with Casey to win the 2005 JAD College Quartet Competition and finished 9th at the 2005 BHS International Collegiate Quartet Competition in Salt Lake City.

Puck lives in Columbus, Ohio and works for Safelite Solutions, while actively searching for his choral directing dream job.

David Calland (lead) is a founding member and director of The Alliance Chorus. Under his direction, The Alliance has nine district championships and has competed at the Barbershop Harmony Society’s International Competition eleven times, earning two bronze medals. David studied music education at Bowling Green State University and started his BHS quartet experience with Which Wayz Up?. David achieved International Quarter-Finalist ranking in 1995 with Ace in the Hole, and has two International Bronze and Silver Medals competing with Uptown Sound. He was awarded the Barbershopper of the Year award for The Alliance in 1999 and Johnny Appleseed District (JAD) “Golden Apple” Coach of the Year award in 1997 and 2005. He also received the JAD “Golden Apple” Director of the Year award in 2002. David is a perennial faculty member at the BHS Harmony University, district Top Gun schools, and other educational events. David actively coaches men’s and women’s quartets and choruses all over the world and is currently serving his second term as the JAD President.

David lives in Worthington, Ohio with his wife Kim and children, Alexa and Jamison. He works as a Business Consultant in P&C Sales Business Solutions for Nationwide Insurance.

Casey Parsons (baritone) has performed with The Alliance to earn seven Johnny Appleseed District Chorus Championships and eight International Competition appearances, winning two International Bronze Medals. He is the baritone section leader and has served in a variety of positions on both the Music Team and the Board of Directors. Casey is proud to have been awarded the 2005 Barbershopper of the Year Award and the 2004 Dale Jurgens Memorial Award by The Alliance Chorus. Along with Puck, he sang in Throwback to win the 2005 JAD College Quartet Competition and finished 9th place in the 2005 BHS International Collegiate Quartet Competition. He will be the 2011 Executive Vice President of the JAD. Casey has a degree in Public Relations from Otterbein College where he sang in the Concert Choir and the Otterbein Vocal Ensemble.

Casey lives in Worthington, Ohio and works as a Network Engineer for Nationwide Insurance.

Jared Wolf (bass) is part of the mighty Alliance bass section and is frequently featured as a soloist and emcee. He has competed with the chorus at several District and International competitions. He also earned a BHS International Collegiate Third Place Bronze Medal in 2003 with Last Call. While earning his Bachelor of Science in Technology degree from Bowling Green State University, Jared spent four years singing in the BGSU Men’s Chorus.

Jared lives in Englewood, Ohio with his wife Allison and son’s Colbin and Beckett. He works as a Senior Graphic Designer with Amos Hobby Publishing in Sidney, Ohio.

      On Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 7:30pm The Allies are holding a big quartet show in a small, intimate theater. The McConnell Arts Center only holds about 200 of our closest friends and fans. We’re sharing the stage with our good friends, Outburst and Common Core, to present a fantastic parade of quartets that is a lineup that is not to be missed.
